From the director:

Dear friends, partners and beloved members of our vibrant Lincoln community:

It is with sadness that we announce today the postponement of the 2020 Lincoln Crossroads Music Festival until the summer of 2021 due to COVID-19.

I realize that it is during these challenging times that we need music the most, and that is one reason why this crisis is particularly grueling. Our primary means of comfort such as touch, communion with others and shared experience through art and culture are largely unavailable when we need them most.

The Lincoln Crossroads Music Festival is built on the synergy of musicians traveling from all over the globe collaborating with local musicians, audience and community members, culminating in an intense, invigorating week of shared cultural experience. The same qualities that make this festival unique and wonderful also put it at risk during this pandemic – and are nearly impossible to replicate online.

I can assure you that the Festival will be back with renewed vigor in 2021. Many of the musicians who would have performed for you in 2020, including the Silk Road Ensemble, have confirmed their participation in the over 25 events and performances now planned for next summer.

In the meantime, please stay safe and in good health. I will miss you all this summer, but the reunion will be all the sweeter when we can finally meet again safely.

Warmest regards,

Erik Higgins
