Documentary Screening “We Will Not Be Silent” with discussion feat. Pete Ferguson, Filmmakers and Belmont Scholars Wed. Aug. 4th, 6:30 p.m., Ross Theatre
Information for the Wednesday evening film screening on Aug. 4th at 6:30 p.m. of the documentary film “We Will Not Be Silent” that follows the Belmont Scholars from Belmont Elementary School as they prepare for their annual Martin Luther King Day speech in a year like no other with a pandemic and social unrest. The screening, at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will be followed by a panel discussion led by Pete Ferguson, the man behind the Belmont Scholars program, filmmakers Brian Seifferlein and David Koehn, and the scholars themselves. This Lincoln Crossroads Music Festival program is free and open to the public.
We Will Not Be Silent chronicles Lincoln Public Schools fifth grade scholars Eveline, Mohamed, Alex, Alejandra, Payton, Kenadee, Jevon, and Leriya’h their empowerment group founder and advisor Peter Ferguson, educators, families, school, and community stakeholders through various challenges, a pandemic, social unrest, and their embracement of an opportunity to educate, speak, and touch hearts and minds
