Concert “The Peacock at the Crossroads – with Sandeep, Suhail and Samina” Aug. 7th 7:30 p.m., South Street Temple


Ticket for the Saturday evening performance on Aug. 7th at 7:30 p.m.. at South Street Temple, 2061 S 20th St, Lincoln, NE 68502.

The performance, entitled ‘The Peacock at the Crossroads’ with Sandeep, Suhail and Samina features an exciting new collaboration with Grammy-winning Tabla maestro and composer Sandeep Das, Sarangi artist Suhail Yusuf Khan and visual artist Samina Hooda. While in Lincoln, they aspire to engage with members of Lincoln’s Yezidi community in a heartfelt gesture of learning about their heritage and collaborating with them to create a musical and artistic expression, which will be presented at the event as a homage to the community. The title of the concert is inspired by Melek Taus, the Yezidi peacock angel.

Additionally, the audience will also enjoy a projection of Samina’s artwork in an animated format where her paintings will dance and pulsate to the music of Sandeep Das to express a narrative of a people compelled to leave their motherlands to find pathways to hope and opportunities.
