Brazilian cellist André Micheletti holds a Double Doctorate in Cello Performance and Early Music from Jacobs School of Music- Indiana University. His principal teachers were Helga Winold, Stanley Ritchie, and Nigel North. While there, Dr. Micheletti also received lessons and guidance from the legendary Janos Starker and renowned cellist Emílio Colón.
Dr. Micheletti holds a Masters degree in Cello Performance from Northwestern University Bienen School of Music in Evanston Illinois and considers Professor of Cello Hans Jorgan Jensen, as one of his most influential mentors.
Andre is an active soloist and chamber musician, appearing with several distinguished orchestras in Brazil and throughout North America.
As a foundering member of the Micheletti Trio (Véronique Mathieu, violin, and Jasmin Arakawa, piano), he had the pleasure of performing in concert as part of the 2012 Virtuosi Series here in Winnipeg.
In 2009, the Micheletti Trio won the Grand Prize of the 12th Competition in the Performance of Music from Spain and Latin America, awarded by the Embassy of Spain and Indiana University.
From 2011 through 2016, André was Artistic Director of Festival Internacional de Música Erudita de Piracicaba.
Currently, Dr. André Micheletti is Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the University of São Paulo (USP), in Ribeirão Preto. Brazil.
